Social Intrapreneurship at Work

Social intrapreneurship refers to the act of using entrepreneurial and innovative approaches within an established organization or corporation to create a positive social or environmental impact.

It involves using business principles to address social and environmental challenges within a company's existing structure.

Social intrapreneurs are individuals within an organization who are passionate about making a positive impact on society and are willing to take on the challenge of implementing innovative and sustainable solutions to social and environmental issues. They work to create change from within the organization, using their skills and resources to drive positive impact and make a difference.

Social intrapreneurship can take many forms, such as developing new products or services that promote sustainability or social good, implementing new policies that reduce the organization's environmental footprint, or establishing partnerships with community organizations to address local social issues.

Setting up the right intention by understanding their strengths, cause-alignment, and the needs of the local communities helps in bringing the team together for action.

We focus on the following elements during our S.I. focused engagements:

  1. Understanding the SDGs and Triple Bottom Line

  2. Introduction to the principles of the doughnut economy

  3. Developing solutions/products/services that address social and environmental challenges

  4. Packaging them and making them sales-ready

Understanding the SDGs and Triple Bottom Line

We begin by making the team familiar with the sustainable development goals as charted by the United Nations and the Triple Bottom Lined outlined by Mohd. Yunus.

Introduction to the principles of the doughnut economy:

To create an ecosystem for social enterprises to thrive, we should unlearn the modern-day economics that is focused on economic growth; and replace it with doughnut economics that focuses on bringing people out of the shortfall through the social foundation and creating infrastructures to stay inside the ecological ceiling for planet conservation, thereby avoiding exploitation of the natural resources.

Developing solutions:

We help your team build solutions and craft services by navigating them through a product/service development journey and introducing them to tools such as:

  • Creating a Theory of Change

  • Developing logic models for impact calculation

  • Crafting value propositions for pitching

  • Building strategic triangle for partnerships

  • Competitive landscape mapping

  • Creating brand canvas, etc.

Packaging them and making them sales-ready:

This is a fun part where we gather to co-create marketing ideas and how we’ll pitch our services to the customers.

This portion includes getting all the marketing material ready including:

  • Pitch decks

  • Landing pages

  • Content for all sales channels

  • Training the sales team etc.

Then we set up targets as per team’s bandwidth and target market.
If needed, we continue to help teams in identifying strategies to meet the targets setup in the first place and make course corrections, if needed.
